Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) effects 1 out of 10 women and is one of the most common causes of infertility. PCOS at its core is a metabolic and reproductive hormone problem. Anyone who has dealt with it can tell you that it feels like the metabolism has a mind of its own and common approaches to helping bring hormone balance or blood sugar balance often aren't enough. I brought in Dr. Shannon Hirst a Naturopathic Physician who specializes in women’s hormone health to discuss PCOS. Dr. Hirst is licensed Naturopathic Physician in Woodinville, Washington and received a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and Family Medicine Residency from Bastyr University in Kenmore , Washington. She also holds a bachelors in science in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Western Washington University. You can find her at www.drshannonhirst.com and on twitter @drhirst. In this episode we discuss the underlying hormone and metabolic imbalance in PCOS and what’s important to know. Also, we go the issues that people with PCOS face. With many people silently struggling with this condition; I am appreciative of the integrative and holistic approach Dr. Hirst takes. Our podcast focuses on the integrative health arena with a special emphasis on gut, metabolism, inflammation, and emotional health; this episode approaches and discusses many of these areas. Enjoy and share with friends, loved ones, and colleagues. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/adam-rinde/support
